What is a PLA?
A "project labor agreement" is when the government awards contracts for public construction projects exclusively to unionized firms. This is done by including a union collective bargaining agreement in a public or private construction project's bid specifications. In order to receive a contract, a contractor must sign the agreement and subject its employees to union control.

So what’s the issue?
PLA’s limit competition by shutting out more than 85 percent of the construction workforce that chooses not to belong to a union. A union-only PLA forces all construction contractors to work exclusively with unions —without any vote by employees. PLA’s require all contractors, unionized or not, to subject themselves and their employees to unionization in order to work on a government-funded construction project.

Why this should matter to you!
PLA’s harm YOU the local worker by reducing your employment opportunities.
PLA’s take away YOUR employee rights.
PLA’s discriminate against ALL non-union construction workers and businesses.
This is a taxpayer issue! Why should YOU the taxpayers pay more for public construction because a group gets a decided advantage?

What Can You Do?
Don’t sit by and think someone else will take care of this for you...If you want FREEDOM you’ll have to WORK for it!
Take ACTION NOW! Get in the fight for your FREEDOM & RIGHT TO WORK!!!
VOTE! Communicate your opposition to your elected officials.
TELL EVERYONE you know about both the injustice and discrimination of PLA’s.
